Bunker Bay Silhouette

This is a shot that I have been sitting on for ages trying to decide if I liked it or not. I kept thinking “yeh it’s alright” and then “no it’s not good enough” and kept on going back and forth. My husband said that he really likes it so I have finally decided why not, so low and behold here it is.

Let me know what you think

    • Yes you were Merv, it was a good day, or should I say weekend.
What are you trying to say Merv, that I have too many keywords? LOL Hey I got told to put keywords so I went for it.

  3. topo keywords???

I see you’ve been doing the social media thing. It’s a good thing to do and to get out there, but make sure you keep a life and don’t chain yourself to the computer !!

    • Woops ment to say TOO many keywords.

Yes doing the social media in a big way now but once I’m all sorted, which should be soon then hopefully just 1/2 an hour a day to keep on top of it all. Your right though it’s so easy to get obsessive with it all, I really have to limit myself with work otherwise I just don’t stop.

      • 1/2 hour a day …… ha never , your hooked.

  4. Yeh but if all it’s takes is that to get myself out there than it’s worth it. At the moment I’m spending far more than that just trying to figure out the best way to market myself. It’s doing my head in lol.

    Comment by andreagreenphotography — April 13, 2012 @ 3:08 pm

    • I guess you’ve got to decide on your target market and concentrate on that through the best channels to reach them. I’m not convinced that FB or G+ is going to find an exact market. It’s a blanket approach but how many people search them for a specific need. I think they are good when you’ve found your market but not sure they will find it initially. Anyway thats just my opinion. Keep at it. If it’s the baby and mother portrait market your hoping to find good luck because from what I have seen you are very good at that work.

      Comment by mervfrench — April 13, 2012 @ 3:16 pm

      • I agree Merv, my goal is that by doing FB or G+ etc it will get me up higher in google searches so that then when people search for what I offer then I’m hoping to get on the first page. That’s really where you need to get on the searches.
Thanks heaps for the compliments, not that I’m being big headed or anything but I love it and I think I’m good at it and that is my goal. I can only but try.

  5. I think with your type of work a physical presence is one of the best ways. By that i mean attending any sort of baby expo, mothers expo etc. i know there is a cost involved in that and it might be a old style approach but it works.

A good website with a good SEO set up by someone who knows that kind of thing is probably a good idea as well.

Anyway I’m sure you’ve thought of all those things.

    Comment by mervfrench — April 13, 2012 @ 3:29 pm

    • Yep I’m hearing you, very expensive but I would give it a go but can’t get in this years expo. Yes google searches are all websites but you need your name out there in as many ways as possible over the net to get you up higher in the searches hence blogs, FB, G+ etc. Most of them now are showing up with the blogs first and then that links back to the website, it’s so they keep there name out there by posting regularly, again helping with the searches.
SEO yes I have been trying to sort at the moment, sometimes the web people aren’t quite as helpful as you’d like but that’s ok cause I can still work it out.
Thanks for all your suggestions I really appreciate it, it all helps.

  7. Keep at it Andrea persistence will pay off I’m sure. Get on that first page in the first 4 or 5 listings and your made.

    Cheers

    • Yep that’s what I’m aiming for Merv, persistance I can do that’s for sure. I WILL get there, I am determined.

    Cheers.

    • Hi Merv,
Yes I know I got stuck into it then I got really crook, and then I have been getting my new website sorted and it all went south for a while.
My new website is now up and pretty much where it needs to be as far as design, just need to update the newborn gallery. I have been completely confused as to what is the best way to do everything, but now I have a lady helping me and I know what I need to do. We should have that all sorted out really soon, then I will be back to regular posts and social media, not much point in doing it if it’s not all working properly. Also I am trying to get everyone to change over to my new blog that’s on the website so that is a mission as well. It’s difficult when you don’t fully understand how all of these things work and how to get them to work together effectively.
So howz it all going with you? What have you been up to?
I’m hoping that I will get a lot sorted today and tomorrow so I can spend some time catching up on everyone’s blogs, I haven’t even had a chance to look at any of them for way too long.
      Cheers
      Andrea

  21. Good to hear your going well. While i think social media has a place in getting the message out there I see some that are just totally obsessed by it and all I can think is ” get a life ” !!! Do you really want to spend 60% of your waking day posting crap to 10 different places. Some people use it really effectively and I’m sure they don’t live on it. The blogs seem to be dead. I know i haven’t posted a shot for over 6 months on my blog. I do put shots onto facebook and everyone catches up with them there. I can put them on the blog and link them to facebook but I don’t seem to remember to do it that way. It’s a real shame the blogs have died because we used to have a lot of fun with them and thats how i met so many fellow photographers. The blogs are the still the best place to view an image I think, FB crunches them really badly. Google plus displays them really well but i’m not running 2 different places, i can’t keep up with one.

I’ll check out your new site and link it to my blog.

    Good to hear from you.

    Comment by mervfrench — September 20, 2012 @ 12:07 am

    • Yeah I’m hearing you Merv, socially I am so not interested but business wise they are great tools and unfortunately these days you have to be in it to win it. I would rather be doing the work than constantly promoting myself through these kinds of ways but it’s just the way it is today.
It is a shame about the blogs and I agree with you, they have died of a lot, I suppose everyone just has so much on and it gets to the point where you just go I can’t do it all. I like looking at photos on the blogs too instead of FB, Like you say google + is pretty good too. For me it’s a matter of having everything set up properly so that it gets sent out to lot’s of different places and then I have to manually do it on a few too, I just do it all at once and copy and paste saves heaps of time LOL.

Great to hear from you too Merv, hopefully we’ll chat again soon.

      Cheers
      Andrea
