Fortescue Falls Karijini

These photos were taken at Fortescue Falls in Karijini National Park. We camped near here and so we went down everyday to the falls as well as to another area not far away which is called Fern Pool. These are all in Dales Gorge, which so far is my favourite gorge at Karijini, although I did miss one so next time we’ll see if it stays my favourite.

I can’t decide between the crops of this photo so I thought I’d post the original shot and then a crop from the top to get rid of the trees and also one that has still kept the aspect ration but it means that it comes in pretty tight on the sides of the waterfall.

Let me know what you think looks best, I can’t decide. I’m thinking the crop from the top so I keep the whole waterfall but I’m not sure if it looks too wide.

Karijini Panoramic

I haven’t really done any panoramic shots and actually finished putting them together and showed anyone yet so here goes. This was taken up in Karijini Western Australia. It’s such an amazing place and I can’t wait to go up there again and actually get in a huge amount of shooting. When I went last time I really didn’t have a lot of opportunity to be able to take my camera so next time look out.

I think that next time I’d like to have a go with a panoramic the same as this but maybe use my 85mm so that I can get in a bit more of the background. Once you see it come together it gives you a bit more perspective.

What do you think?

Cottesloe Silhouette

This photo was taken at the top of the groin on the left side of Cottesloe Beach Perth WA. I was looking at all of the guys on their stand up paddle boards thinking “how do they do that?” It always amazes me, they must have really good balance. Anyway while I was having a look this image struck me so here it is. I like how you can see all the ships on the horizon, they look so tiny but really they are huge.

Hope you enjoy.

Roxy and my allergies

I don’t usually post this sort of thing but today I felt like doing something a bit different for me.

Recently I have had to rehouse our beloved cat Roxy and my daughter’s pet rat Penny due to severe allergies. It is ridiculous to think that I have suffered from allergies all of my life but have only recently had allergy testing done and found out that I am allergic to cat’s, dog’s, feather mix (goose, duck & chicken), mould and the rat, plus what I had always know which was grass and pollen.

How strange that as a child I was constantly at the doctors about this and was one of the first children to be put on numerous different medications that had only just come out, as a bit of a guinea pig but no one ever suggested allergy testing.

I have to say I was extremely upset when I found out that I had these other allergies and hadn’t know for all this time. It was really hard knowing that the major cause of my allergies, which was my cat could have been avoided for such a long time and would have saved me a lot of tears, pain, frustration and just generally feeling like crap constantly. I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and just be grateful that at least had found out.

We ended up deciding that we would have to find Roxy a new home after doing a few tests to check that it was in fact her causing me the worst problems. It was terrible to have to say goodbye to her, I thought I was fine and couldn’t figure out why I was crying or felt like crying all the time for days, and then I realised why.

I am really pleased to be able to say that even though it was horrible and I felt like the worst mother in the world (there’s nothing more heartbreaking than your kids crying their eyes out because of a problem that you have) we were able to find great new homes for Penny the Rat and Roxy our cat. Thank goodness that it has made a HUGE difference already to how I feel, it’s unbelievable really.

I was updating my family photos and came across this shot of  Roxy and so I thought I’d edit it and do a post on my blog and write about what happened to me.

Woodman Point Sunset

This photo was taken down at the beach that’s not far from where I live. I just knew it was going to be an amazing sunset and when I got there it didn’t disappoint. It was so bright and intense I thought it was amazing.

I love the beach so much, when I go there it’s just so peaceful and relaxing. How can you not feel great when you’ve got fresh air, the sounds of waves crashing and beautiful sunsets like this.

What do you think? Do you like the beach too?
