Fortescue Falls Karijini

These photos were taken at Fortescue Falls in Karijini National Park. We camped near here and so we went down everyday to the falls as well as to another area not far away which is called Fern Pool. These are all in Dales Gorge, which so far is my favourite gorge at Karijini, although I did miss one so next time we’ll see if it stays my favourite.

I can’t decide between the crops of this photo so I thought I’d post the original shot and then a crop from the top to get rid of the trees and also one that has still kept the aspect ration but it means that it comes in pretty tight on the sides of the waterfall.

Let me know what you think looks best, I can’t decide. I’m thinking the crop from the top so I keep the whole waterfall but I’m not sure if it looks too wide.

Karijini Panoramic

I haven’t really done any panoramic shots and actually finished putting them together and showed anyone yet so here goes. This was taken up in Karijini Western Australia. It’s such an amazing place and I can’t wait to go up there again and actually get in a huge amount of shooting. When I went last time I really didn’t have a lot of opportunity to be able to take my camera so next time look out.

I think that next time I’d like to have a go with a panoramic the same as this but maybe use my 85mm so that I can get in a bit more of the background. Once you see it come together it gives you a bit more perspective.

What do you think?

Last Photos of Barbara

Here are the last couple of my favourite photos of Barbara.

I just found out that she went in to labour the day after we did our session, phew. But unlucky as she was 5 weeks early. Luckily mum and bub are doing fine.

I’m a bit disappointed as there is a bit of a problem with the baby, nothing major thank goodness, but unfortunately it means having to put off her newborn session until she is older.

Never mind I will have to contain my excitement at meeting her until later on. I get so excited about the thought of meeting the new babies and doing the session with them, I just can’t help myself.

Hope you like these latest photos.

More Barbara

I was having a bit of a play with some of Barbara’s photos and came across this soft sepia look.

Different effects don’t always look good on everything but I felt that it looked really nice on these particular shots from the session. what do you guys think?

This is another one of the shots I took of the lovely Barbara.

She had such a great time when we did her maternity session and it makes me feel so good that people feel that comfortable around me when I’m doing my job. I always hope that my clients have a good time and feel relaxed when they come and see me. Having your photo taken can be a really difficult thing for a lot of people so I think I’ve done my job well when they walk out feeling the way Barbara did. What more can you ask for?

What do you think Black & White or Colour?

Barbara 35 weeks

Here is one of the photos of the lovely Barbara and her husband Sief. Barbara was 35 weeks and so excited about the prospect of meeting her baby soon.

Having a baby is such an exciting time, your body is changing, you can feel all of these strange things happening inside of you, your trying to figure out what your baby is going to look like. It’s a pretty amazing time, I really don’t believe that anything beats it.

I can’t wait to see Barbara, Sief and their new baby in a little while, it’s so exciting.

Green Head Coast

Last Easter we went up to a place called Green Head with my cousins and our families had a great time. I’d forgotten about the few photos that I’d taken and I just found this so I thought I’d show you all.

There’s not much there really to do or to take photos of but I think this one came up alright.

A couple of people I know have been to Karijini National Park recently  which is about 1400 kilometers from Perth and it made me realize that I haven’t posted any of my photos from the trip that I did there last October.

My husband had to go up North for a week for work and it was school holidays so I decided that seeings how he was away and I’d been wanting to go to Karijini  for ages, bugger it I’d go on a road trip. It was a last minute thing that I decided to do a couple of weeks before hand and it just so happened that a great friend of mine was on holidays so I asked her if she wanted to come, she said yes so off we went.

It was a pretty huge trip to do as I had to drive that far, plus I had my two kids in the back of the car together and I’d never been so far away with out my husband but you know what, it was absolutely amazing. Ok so I had to drive the whole way myself bar one hour and set everything up at the camp when we got there after driving so far, plus as it turned out I was getting crook, but there was no stopping me. I was determined to make the most of it.

I knew when I went that I probably wouldn’t be able to do a lot of photography but I didn’t mind because I just wanted to see the place and get an idea of what I could do for the next trip. My husband called it my reconnaissance mission which I thought sounded pretty cool.

It was pretty difficult trying to carry camera gear, plus water and food for the day for myself and the kids but the kids were great and they were able to carry some things which took some of the weight off of me, but it was still a hard slog and it makes you realize that those men of ours certainly do come in handy.

Anyway it was an amazing trip. I think I would be a bit reluctant to go without my hubby again, but hey I did it and certainly would never regret it and the kids and I had the most amazing adventure so what more can you ask for. I even managed to take a few shots that I think turned out pretty good.

Here’s one of the photos that I got in Dales Gorge, my favourite place up there so far. This was just a tiny part of  a really great spot in the gorge that had all of these little waterfalls. Hope you like it.

What is photogenic?

I just love this photo of my daughter. It is now my most favourite shot of her. She is such a great model for me, she’s just so natural and relaxed. I don’t think I really have many bad photos of her at all. It sux because I am so not photogenic and my husband and daughter are, lucky things.

You know some people are just good in front of a camera, I’m not sure if it’s confidence or what it is that makes a person photogenic. Photogenic doesn’t even mean that you are drop dead gorgeous, it’s just something that you have, for some reason that means that you look good in photos.

What do you think it is that makes a person photogenic?
